Transportation

Transportation Services
Transportation engineering, as practiced by civil engineers, primarily involves planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of transportation facilities.
Transportation Design and Permitting
SED provides complete design and permitting for roadways and pedestrian facilities including roundabouts, storm water management, signage and striping.
Maintenance of Traffic
SED provides maintenance of traffic designs for roadway construction, rehabilitation or projects adjacent to the travel ways.
The design aspects of transportation engineering include the sizing of transportation facilities (how many lanes or how much capacity the facility has), determining the materials and thickness used in pavement designing the geometry (vertical and horizontal alignment) of the roadway (or track).
